You're on the right track though. But I don't think the taboo of suicide is from our tribal past. I think it's far more recent than that. Probably from the paternalistic monotheistic religions. Just seems like something a hierarch would want to force onto subordinates.

Religions have certainly reinforced the idea that suicide is a sin. The system requires indentured servants with no choice but to break their backs for the aristocrats. I think it's a perverted evolution of what I was saying about tribal days.

Autothanasia, or altruistic suicide, has been used throughout history to lessen the burden on the group.

Not sure just how bad things have to be for that to come back in a big way.

As in the case of my Highlander ancestors, I plan to strip naked, paint myself blue, grab my broadsword, and run down from the hills, screaming like a banshee as I join the fray. Hopefully my blood will be spilled righteously as I fight to defend nature from the Matrix and its brainless zombie locusts.

The film Children of Men is worth a watch. Lots of legit suicide there …

It's been years since I've watched that. About time to re-watch.

It used to be a film set in the future. Now it’s set in the present. God alone knows if we will be able to watch it when it becomes a film set in the past …

I don't believe Hunter gatherers had any negative beliefs against suicide. Typically when the group moved those that couldn't keep up would fall behind and starve death ending their lives. That was an accepted way of dying. When they became a burden on the group they left.

Suicide is Taboo In Christianity where one is threatened with eternal hell and damnation. A good way to keep the Congregation in line. "If you think you're suffering now JUST WAIT till you get to hell".

Going to the doctor for a sprain in America is already a form of medically Assisted suicide. It's probably just a a way to legitimize it. Doctors Will be able to prescribe it then. Guaranteed cure for all that ails you.

I can even see it being used as a mental health cure all.

It's even being used as a cure for homelessness In Canada.

It's well worth the read.

One of the major reasons suicide Is illegal Is it gets messy with insurance. Another words financial. Also If you were ( or should I say Are) a slave holder you wouldn't want your favorite N word Offing themselves. All that lost productivity and training would be a shame.

Have a nice day!

I resent those who intervene on behalf of those who are better off leaving this all behind. Given a simply cost/benefits evaluation of suffering vs. decent days puts most of us in the red.. But, what a decision, and what if they are wrong?!?

All true. But what is there to discuss? If it (at some point) becomes too much for some then it’s too much... I'm not saying 'the collapse' won't come, but the whole thing looks (to me) as totally avoidable. Death doesn't exist for the living (even though we all know its inevitable).

I’m so out of touch I wouldn’t know the first thing about buying fentanyl… which would seem an ideal way to go.

Wow, not sure Nate Hagins would cover this one, but it's a big elephant in the room. I'm a Doomer, I have been since I saw the BBC documentary on the aerosol masking effect. I'm constantly wondering up which of the nails in humanities coffin will be hammered in first. Global warming, loss of fertility, oil depletion ( leading to less aerosol masking leading to further abrupt warming), nuclear war, toxicity from plastics and oil derivatives etc. There is no escape. I have no exit strategy, I plan on being here for my family until I'm taken. I don't worry about what life will be like in 20 years when things could change so abruptly in the next few. Just be the best version of yourself you can be.

Maybe the real reason behind Trump's ''drill baby, drill' policy is to keep aerosol masking active as long as possible - so he's an environmentalist at heart!

Yes, but seriously - is it at all likely that at least Musk doesn't know what we know? This is the man who sells EVs and designs rockets to Mars to get stuff the world s running out of, including air and water.

It really is inconcievable that Musk doesn't know, which logically makes what he is doing that much more terrifying.....

BTW I like your approach and attitude. For myself, I've been prepping for 20 years, not for myself but for the kids, and now grandkids - I assumed I wouldn't be around to exper I encourage the worst of it but am not so sure now....

I don't think it's ignorance, I think it's that Trump and Musk truly don't care about anyone but themselves. Trump is a narcissists narcissist and Musk is showing the alarming signs of a psychopath.

I hope you and your family are safe where you are (the U S?).

I live in Australia and we are about to undergo our own political litmus test with a federal election coming up soon.

It's scary. I fear it will be a close run thing.
