Before the white man arrived in the Hawaiians islands the population was sustainable on what the Hawaiians transported in 3000 miles in canoes, including plants, livestock and the people who were to populate the islands.

Today if the current population of the islands were removed and replaced with the original inhabitants they would never survive.

In less than a century -

The fish stock has been destroyed by chemical runoff from golf courses and hotels destroying the reef systems.

Pesticides use have increased the number. of native plants and wildlife destroyed.

Disease (a fungus) has destroyed the ohia trees that were essential for building in a few years.

Taro and banana have been destroyed by viruses and root rot.

Coconut is now being destroyed by a beetle.

Koa trees are endangered from over harvest for millionaires cabinets and furniture instead of canoe hulls.

The varroa mite has made it's appearance and is killing the bee population.

Beneficial insects are rapidly disappearing.

Drinking water has been polluted.

The landscape has been overrun by introduction of new species which overtake indigenous species of both animal and plant.

This is only a partial list due to space.

Hawaii now imports over 90% of its food. Prior to the introduction of the white man, the island of Hawaii sustained 150,000 natives solely on the food growing and the ocean. Today with the same population virtually all food is imported and totally reliant on fossil fuels. It should also be reminded that all of the agriculture growing zones are on the island.

The government is trying to promote local grown food to be served as part of school lunches and have utterly failed.

The overwhelming reasons for this are tourism and real estate being sold as paradise when paradise has been destroyed. The only remaining part of paradise is the climate and very soon that will be destroyed. The volcano goddess however, will still be here and enhance the chard cinder of what remains of paradise.

And I'll leave you with this as a good example of the stupidity that caused the above.

The trend continues!

I'll even give Musk credit for his superb idea of populating Mars. Since it's already uninhabitable he can't make it any worse. Brilliant in its own way. The sooner he goes the better.

Thorough, well done. It aligns with what I know about the pollinator crisis, a known problem for many years, yet another we have failed to take action on.
