As usual, Sarah, the most definitive and brutally honest summary of where the world stands, thank you for such clarity (and brevity!)

I'd love your take on what will happen from here on - impossible to tell of course, but assuming Iran opens the Strait at some stage, it seems clear that despite humanity's poor memory and capacity for hubris, clearly we are not going to return to the world that existed prior to 28th February 2025.

This war exposes the inevitable, the crash of fossil fuels which approach the failure of EROI each day. Sure, a few more decades of drilling increasingly expensive to harvest oil deposits is possible, but deadly in its own right. Furthermore, building out "renewables" is BS, dependent on diesel from beginning to end — from mining to building it out. No diesel, no renewables, it's that simple. This war exposes and jump starts what was inevitable, world-wide systemic failure of the basics that gets food to our tables.

The realities of what we are going to witness and experience are horrifying to contemplate, global economic breakdown, climate refugees in the billions, and more resource wars. Medicines will become unavailable, starvations will reach unimaginable levels. Disease outbreaks from compromised water and sanitation systems will occur.

As much as I have seen this coming, it still feels surreal. I'll try to enjoy that until reality smacks me in the side of the head.
